The takeaways from Scarlett:
We continue to emphasize the importance of getting on the Medwaiver waitlist. We’ve always stressed the urgency of being on the waitlist as soon as possible, because if an unforeseen crisis comes up in your or your loved one’s life, you will save yourself the time and energy required to apply and wait to get onto the waitlist.
But, you can access some short-term services only when you’re on the waitlist.
Some of these resources include:
- Respite
- Consumable Medical Supplies (ex: diapers, wipes, gloves, etc.)
- Durable Medical Equipment (potentially)
- Supported Employment (for higher-functioning adults)
The way to access these services is:
- Get on the waitlist. Find more information here.
- Reach out to your local APD office and request those services specifically. Find your local office here.
If you have not yet applied for the Waiver Waitlist, be sure to make this a priority!
