What to Expect When on the Florida Medwaiver Waitlist
In this Coffee Chat, Carrie asks Scarlett to explain what a parent should expect to happen after they have been added to the Florida Medicaid Waiver Waitlist. Scarlett lays out what to expect during the years parents wait for services and what actions parents should be taking.
Watch the video here:
The takeaways from Scarlett:
- Expect almost nothing to happen when you’re waiting.
- Traditionally, parents would get a letter once a year asking if their child’s situation has changed.
- If you aren’t getting these letters, make sure to contact your regional office twice a year.
- “Make a friend” at that office and write down everyone’s name down that you speak to. You should have an assigned “General Revenue Worker (GRW)” or “APD Liaison,” and Scarlett recommends keeping an email correspondence with this person and saving your paper trail of all communications with APD.
If you have not yet applied for the Waiver Waitlist, make sure to make this a priority!
