SNGG Florida Medwaiver Coffee Chats

Do rare genetic disorders qualify for the Florida Medwaiver?

In this Coffee Chat, Scarlett discusses a topic that she often gets from parents on intake phone calls — rare genetic syndromes.

To date, rare genetic disorders don’t specifically qualify for the Medwaiver. People usually qualify for the Medwaiver based on one of the components of their syndrome listed as a developmental disorder by the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD).

This co-existing diagnosis is often intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, or autism.
