What do you do when APD won’t respond to you?
Today’s Coffee Chat is in response to one of our Facebook group members, who is struggling to get a response from APD regarding her son’s status on the Medwaiver Waitlist.
Scarlett’s recommendation is to contact your local House Representative to let them know that there are issues within APD’s system. APD is extremely underfunded and very understaffed. Once lawmakers know how big the problem is, they can allocate extra funding to help.
So when you are having a hard time getting in touch with APD, be it by email or phone call, give them the chance to call you back. Leave a few messages, and call a few different numbers. Send an email if you have email addresses.
But if this goes on for more than a month, Scarlett highly recommends you contact your local representative.
Here’s how:
– Enter your address in the Find Your Representative page:
https://www.myfloridahouse.gov/Sections/Representatives/myrepresentative.aspx
-Click on Full Detail under your House Representative
-Call or send them an email and let them know what’s going on with APD.

We hope this helps!
